The Singing of a Bird
A – G – D
F# – E
Am I enjoying life?
Today I heard a bird chirping in the forest
I had not noticed him before
I had a moment to pause
And I listened to his sweet sounds
Yes, the chirping of a bird gave me pause
It was such a simple sound, no complexity, no grandeur
Just the simple sound of a bird chirping
Like a haiku poem
Simple, direct, yet full of meaning
Thus his song
Simple, direct, and full of meaning
The cat came by, inquiring
He looked up into the trees
And turned around
This was not prey he could reach
It did not concern him
Yes, life is simple, and complex
It is busy, and it is quiet
And we find ourselves in between
Am I enjoying life?
Does the song of the bird mean anything to me?
I listen with quiet ears
I inquire
I am ready to hear
