All originals except, of course, “All Along the Watchtower.”
Underground Apocalypse came together for this event. The band is Zander Smead on bass, Michael Gardner on drums, and me on guitar and singing. Zander is a freshman at Lincoln High School, and a member of the youth group at Mountain Bible Church. Michael is in college, and also a member of the youth group. I’m the youth pastor. All three of us are on the worship team at our church. We practiced a few times before the event, and it came together nicely.
(Zander, Michael — You guys rocked the mount!)
“Peacemakers” was dedicated to Stuart Rind, who would have helped out at Rock on the Mount, but was working flood relief in Nashville. One line in “Peacemakers” was inspired by Stuart — “Blessed are the feet of those who declare God’s love…” Listen to the audio recording for explanation.

Zander asked, later after the show, why I was playing all the songs so fast. In a word, I was tense. Planning Rock on the Mount took a lot out of me. Only, I didn’t realize how tense I was until after the show. Thankfully, the whole festival went smoothly, and a lot of people had fun.

I had the pleasure of introducing Seeking Savior, a junior-high band from Baymont Christian School, consisting of Jared Wilson and his friends Ryan Jensen and Christian Jensen. This was their debut performance. (Note: My apologies to everyone who wants to hear the whole set. My recorder malfunctioned, so I only caught the last few songs — fortunately, most of their set. If someone has video, please contact me.)

Michael Walling is a good friend of mine who picked up the guitar a few years ago. He’s written several songs, and he performed two acoustic songs at Rock on the Mount 2010. This was his debut performance.

What the grunge movement lacked in the 1990s was Johannes, a three-piece Christian act from Brookings, Oregon. This band is definitely the best Christian act I’ve come across in the last several years. They were this year’s (and last year’s) headlining act. Visit their website at JohannesMusic.com. This recording, however, is not their main set, but their acoustic set. This is the song, “Shine.”

Yeah, they are a “scream” band, but much more. Raised Threshold demonstrated they are much more during the acoustic portion of Rock on the Mount. This band can harmonize. Unfortunately, as I had to introduce them, and then hit the “record” button I caught the last half of the first song.

These guys are creative. Stephen Abbas is a professional photographer; Michael Gardner an improv master. Granted, this performance was very visual — something lost entirely on the recording — but funnier than heck anyway. Enjoy.

So… no-one happened to get IDD’s recording? Drag… oh well! It was a blessing to be a part of it all and can’t wait for next year!
Love in Christ!

I got part of your acoustic set, but only a small part. I’m not sure what was going on with my recorder. Sorry, guys.
